A student:

5.6- Explains the importance of self determination and autonomy to all aspects of Aboriginal people’s participation nationally and internationally.

5.9 -Analyses how personal beliefs and political, economic, media and social factors influence attitudes towards Aboriginal peoples and their culture.

5.11- Independently uses a range of research techniques and technologies to locate, select, organize and communicate information and findings.

TASK DESCRIPTION: 

 In groups of four, students will undertake a Web Quest about the 1967 Referendum. Each member of the group will be given focus questions which they will research and contribute that information to  the presentation the group is required to present to class. Students are to assess things like the importance, significance and impact of this historical event on indigenous peoples of Australia. As the group has been set with the task also to decide whether or not that the 1967 referendum deserves to be placed in The Australian human rights hall of fame, students will also need to justify why and how they came to their decision about this event.

 

MARKING CRITERIA:

There is a comprehensive criteria below:

 

 

Things to remember :

1.      Students are to contribute equally to this project.

2.      Students are away during class time for this exercise will be expected to liaison with other members of their group and catch up what they have missed as homework. No exceptions

3.      All students are to speak during the presentation of their Power Points.

4.      Any Plenary or research disagreements are to be raised with the teacher.

5.      As a group you need to discuss your findings and come to a concensus.

6.      Issues of plagiarism may be resolved by consultation and academic penalty.

7.      Any other guidance or assistance that is needed will be provided by the teacher.
